Why you must go paleo!!!

Paleo is on the low carbohydrates side of the eating spectrum. You eat more REAL, FRESH foods, avoiding processed products. Paleo restricts sugary, starchy, and dairy food and beverage products. Paleo is more a lifestyle choice than a temporary weight loss diet.

Eating “paleo” harkens back to prehistoric man. A hunter-gatherer lifestyle. Eating lean meat, fresh fruits and vegetables. It is a time when humans ate off the land. By hunting and killing game, fishing and picking whatever fruits and vegetables were available.

There were no processed foods. No cattle farms for dairy or meat. No organized fishing industry. There no regular meals. If you could not find, catch or hunt your food, you simply starved.

At that time humans were constantly on the move to find food, hence no need to worry about being overweight. It was all about just surviving. With no fatty or sugary processed food and all that activity an overweight person in those times would have been a real rarity. So paleo is not just about what you eat but about a lifestyle.

Humans were not really bred to eat three meals a day but to snack on relatively healthy foods throughout the day.

One can ask what is Healthy food?

Here we say, Healthy food does not take more time to prepare just a little planning. A fresh salad requires only washing and cutting veggies, Add some tuna, a little olive oil and lime juice and you have a fresh healthy meal.

If you want to skip the cutting then buy pre-cut mixed veggies. A quick pasta dish with sauce from a jar takes only the time to boil the pasta. Add tuna or your favorite kielbasa and off you go.

But mind that, Not all ‘fast food’ is un-healthy. Try to find a good Mexican ( Not Taco Hell), Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Vietnamese take out. Many of the dishes are made fresh.

Is not bad to know also what is Healthy weight?!!!

A healthy weight for a 19 year old female of your size can vary quite a bit from woman to woman. Frame size has been a factor used in the past to determine the ideal healthy weight for a person. Smaller frames having less weight, larger having more.

However, specialists now recommend using a combination of Body Mass Index (BMI), Body Fat and Lean Body Mass to figure an individual’s ideal healthy weight. BMI is a useful measure for indicating increase health risks of overweight and obesity, but not so much for someone like you that is slightly “underweight”.

Here are some possible risk for you;
1) Weak immune system. If you’re underweight, you’re might not taking in enough nutrients. This affects your body’s immune system, making it more likely that you’ll catch a cold, flu, or whatever else is going around.

2) Low muscle mass. Professional dancers need muscles to perform well, & for long periods of time.

3) Hair loss. Your hair, just like your body, needs to be nourished by adequate food intake.

4) Anemia. Anemia occurs when the body cannot transport enough oxygen around in red blood cells. It’s often caused by iron deficiencies – common in women, especially those who are dieting or restricting food intake.

Anemia can make you feel exhausted and can cause heart palpitations and dizziness or fainting. If you are having any of these problems, you might be under weight.

What is healthy fats…… any way?!!!

Healthy fats are fats that are not trans fats. You also need a certain ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 polyunsaturated fats. Our bodies are made mostly of saturated fats and monounsaturated fats.

Therefore we need these fats more than polyunsaturated fats, though we still need those. Eating fat doesn’t make you fat. Eating processed carbs and maintaining a sedentary lifestyle makes you fat. Fat also helps keep you satiated, which prevents overeating. So, yes, you can definitely gain weight only eating carbs and protein.
